The Schoenstatt Shrine is the heart of the Movement, and our family home. The Shrine is a small chapel dedicated to the Blessed Mother under the title Mother Thrice Admirable. Each daughter Shrine is modeled after the Original Shrine in Vallendar, Germany where a group of minor seminary students preparing to be drafted into World War I invited the Blessed Mother to take up her home in the old cemetery chapel. This humble supplication of a few teenagers on October 18, 1914 attracted thousands to the Shrine during and after the war. The Movement was formally founded in 1919.
