In 2027, the Schoenstatt Family will gather in Milwaukee to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Father Kentenich’s arrival in the United States and to rediscover the treasures of his years of exile.
WHY MILWAUKEE?
75 Years Ago …
In June 1952, Father Joseph Kentenich arrived in Milwaukee.
What followed would become an important chapter in the history of Schoenstatt. During his 14 years in Milwaukee, Father Kentenich lived a time of separation from the Schoenstatt Family while the Church examined his work and foundation.
Yet Milwaukee also became a place where his paternal spirituality matured through his accompaniment of individuals and families.
From Exile to Mission
The years of exile became an important chapter in the history of Schoenstatt—a time that invites us not only to look back, but also to ask:
What did Milwaukee mean for Father Kentenich then—and what does it say to us today?
In 2027, we return to the land of his exile to remember, to give thanks, to encounter, and to deepen our commitment to the charism entrusted to our Father and Founder.
Three Gatherings – One Journey
To welcome pilgrims as “Father’s guests,” the International Schoenstatt Center is offering three opportunities to experience the 75th anniversary.
Each gathering has its own point of emphasis while sharing the experience of pilgrimage, encounter, prayer, history, and community.

Father’s Arrival & His Message to Families
- Come to commemorate Father Kentenich’s arrival in 1952 and explore his message to families, particularly the wisdom he shared with couples during the “Monday Evenings.”

Come as a Pilgrim
Walk the places that hold the memory of Father’s Milwaukee years
Each program includes days of pilgrimage through places connected to Father Kentenich and the history of Schoenstatt in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
Visit the Exile Shrine, celebrate Mass, receive an explanation of its history, and have time for personal prayer and reflection.
Visit the cemetery and Movement House, with opportunities to hear testimonial presentations connected to Father’s time in Milwaukee.
Visit places that were part of the environment in which Father Kentenich lived and accompanied the Schoenstatt Family.
Experience the Schoenstatt spirituality of the Home Shrine and its connection to family life.
Visit the Founder Shrine in Madison and watch the film about the Shrine’s move.
Tour the International Schoenstatt Center in Waukesha and encounter the place that continues to welcome the Schoenstatt Family today.

The International Schoenstatt Center will welcome both the National and International Schoenstatt Family for these anniversary celebrations.
Three program options are available:
June 8–14, 2027 — 6 days
June 17–23, 2027 — 6 days
September 3–7, 2027 — 4 days

Family pricing applies to the June 8–14, 2027 program and includes a suite with four beds and one bathroom.

Transportation fees are:
4 days: $89.45

6 days: $158.35
Transportation is for coach service during the pilgrimage days and includes the $75 registration fee.
